Initially my idea going in to the beginning of 4th year, was to explore my way through plastics further. I took an interest in silicone, combining this with natural structures; I came up with a design idea in mind which consisted of silicone jewellery based on plant spore forms, which would be interactive. I would make the silicone forms from moulds, add small strong magnets into the sides of the objects adding another layer of silicone to seal. These are some photos of my hot rubber mould making process..
However the desired results didn't come out as well as I'd hoped, and researching on the internet I discovered that magnets, are NOT resistant to heat, infact most lose their magnetism. So I decided to carry on a few more trials but eventually branched off into another direction.
Pictures to follow of the resulting silicone objects.
